BKPM HISTORY
BKPM is the
Investment Coordinating Board of the Republic of Indonesia. As the primary
interface between business and government, BKPM is mandated to boost domestic
and foreign direct investment through creating a conducive investment climate.
Restored to Ministerial status in 2009, and reporting directly to the President
of the Republic of Indonesia, this investment promotion agency's goal is not
only to seek more domestic and foreign investment, but also seek quality
investments that improve social inequality and reduce unemployment. The agency
works as a proactive advocate for investments as well as a matchmaker for investors.
Since October 2013, BKPM is chaired by Mahendra Siregar.

Historical Timeline
1967 - Foreign Capital Investment Advisory Board was founded
1973 - Government established BKPM to replace the committee
1968 - Government established a new agency called the Technical
Committee on Investment
ONE-STOP-SERVICES
- Simplifying business start-up and licensing procedures, including 60% reduction of application forms (from 38 to 15 forms).
- Establishing an Investor Relation Unit at BKPM for information, facilitation and inquiries handling from existing and potential investors.
- Rolling-out the Electronic Information Services and Investment Licensing (SPIPISE) or National Single Window for Investment (NSWi) in 105 regions (PTSP) throughout Indonesia.
- Helping contain various obstacles and giving consultation through annual submission on Investment Activity Report (LKPM).
- Facilitating foreign workers permit.
- Launching the investment tracking system.
- Providing "One-Stop Services" (OSS/PTSP) licensing provision at BKPM:
- Investors requiring licensing and non-licensing investment for operational implementation of business activity shall take a queuing number, except for service complaints
- Investors requiring investment information service shall contact Help Desk service.
- Investors requiring services on licensing and non-licensing application submission shall contact Front Officer Investment Services.
- Investors requiring submission service on Investment Activity Report (LKPM) and request cancellation / revocation of investment licenses shall contact Front Officer Implementation and Monitoring Investment.
- Investors requiring service on submission of non-licensing investment application that is not delegated to the Chairman of BKPM shall contact Front Line Ministries Officer.
- Investors requiring service on retrieval licensing and non-licensing investment shall contact Administrative BKPM. All services are conducted in the framework of the implementation of the OSS in the field of investment in BKPM is free of charge

PROFILE
OF CHAIRMAN
Mahendra Siregar
Mahendra Siregar, age 50, is the Chairman of Indonesia Investment
Coordinating Board (BKPM) since his appointment by President Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono on 1 October 2013.
He graduated with a Bachelor degree in Economics from University of
Indonesia in 1986, and received a Master in Economics from Monash University in
1991.
Mahendra joined the Foreign Affairs Ministry in 1986 and was assigned to
various postings including Economic Third Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy
in London (1992-1995) and Information Counsellor of the Indonesian Embassy in
Washington DC (1998-2001).
He joined Coordinating Ministry in late 2001 as Special Assistant to the
Minister. He was then appointed as Deputy Minister in charge of International
Economic and Financial Relations in May 2005.
He was then appointed as Chairman and CEO Indonesia Eximbank in September
2009 until December 2009.
He was appointed as Vice Minister of Trade by President Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono on 11 November 2009.
Before his appointment as the Chairman of BKPM, Mahendra was Vice Minister
of Finance since 19 October 2011.
He was Asia representative at the
UNFCCC Adaptation Fund Board between 2007-2009.
He is President Yudhoyono’s
Sherpa to the G-20 since London Summit 2009.
