There are several types of visa granted to for foreign nationals wishing to enter Indonesia. Applicants may
apply visa according to their purpose of visit. Visa Issuing Authorities :

Types of Visas
Tourist Visit Visa
A single entry Tourist Visa is valid if presented within 3 (three) months from the date of issuance. It is given to travelers who intend to stay in Indonesia on holiday/leisure purpose with a maximum stay of 60 (sixty) days.
Visa Requirements :
- Original passport, valid for more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay.
- Copy of confirmed round trip Airline ticket/ Electronic ticket. Proof of entry and exit.
- Please note that travelers who chooses to buy an airline ticket on their way to Indonesia, will need to apply for their visa on arrival only.
- Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport photograph attached to the second page of the visa application.
Transit Visa
Transit Visa is given to foreign nationals who wish to make a short stop in Indonesian territory and
are on an onward journey to another country, to their country of origin, to join or work on a transport
vehicle that will continue its journey outside Indonesian territory, and emergencies stop over.
Maximum Stay is 14 (fourteen) days
Validity is 3 (three) months from the date of issue
Visa Requirements :
- Original Passport with validity of more than 6 (six) months beyond the date of intended length of stay
- Copy of confirmed entry and exit airline ticket
- Completed visa application form
- Recent color photograph (passport size)
Limited Stay Permit
Limited Stay Visa is good for a single entry if presented within 3 months from the date of issuance and is valid for a maximum stay of 1 (one) year or more. It is granted upon the authorization from the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta and then issued at the discretion to the Embassy. To expedite the authorization, it is advisable to have the sponsor in Indonesia submit the request for the applicant's authorization from the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta. The holder of Limited Stay Visa is able to extend the visa and to obtain the temporary permit (KIMS/KITAS) upon arrival in Indonesia. Multiple exit and re-entry permit can be obtained from the Immigration if the holder of this type of visa is planning to exit and re-enter Indonesia within the period of valid stay permit. This visa can be extended within Indonesia.
Visa Requirements :
- Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport size photograph glued to the second page of the application.
- Original passport valid for 18 [eighteen] months from the date of issuance of the visa.
- Letter from the sending company mentioning the purpose of the stay in Indonesia .
- Letter from sponsor/agent in Indonesia mentioning the purpose of the stay in Indonesia
- Copy of flight itinerary
Visit Visa
There are few types of visa issued under this category based on purpose of visit. Not all of the visas
issued under this category have Single or Multiple Entries option.
General Requirements for Visit Visa :
- Original Passport with validity of more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay for Single Entry and validity of more than 18 (eighteen) months for Multiple Entries.
- Completed visa application form
- Recent color photograph (passport size)
Multiple Entries
Multiple entries visa can be used to enter Indonesia several times as long as the visa is still valid.
Maximum Stay 60 (sixty) days. Validity 1 (one) year from the date of issue.
2.1 Tourist Visa (Single or Multiple Entries)
Tourist Visa is given to foreign nationals wishing to travel to Indonesian territory for leisure.
Additional Requirements for Tourist Visa :
- Confirmed itinerary for a trip into Indonesian territory or Air Tickets
- Copy of bank statement indicating the current applicant’s fund or a letter from the bank
Business Visa is given to foreign nationals entering Indonesia to conduct business in
Indonesian territory.
Additional Requirements for Business Visa :
- Confirmed itinerary for a trip into Indonesian territory or Air Tickets
- Reference letter of Sponsorship from the Company assigning applicant to visit Indonesia
- Letter of Invitation from the counterpart in Indonesia mentioning the purpose of visit
Social Visit Visa is granted for applicants wishing to travel to Indonesia to visit family/relative,
social/cultural exchange, etc.
Additional Requirements for Social Visit Visa :
- Confirmed itinerary for a trip into Indonesian territory or Air Tickets
- Letter of invitation from family/relative, social organization, university/school or cultural residence which describes the purpose of visit and guaranteeing all transportation and living expenses that may incur in Indonesia.
2.4 Journalist Visa
Media / Journalistic / Video Shooting purpose of visit falls under the category of this Visit Visa.
Applicants should contact nearest Indonesian Embassy / Consulate in Applicant’s country of
origin / residence for more details and requirements.
2.5 Research Visa (Single Entry)
Applicants applying for visa under this category are required to submit an official notification or a
formal approval from the State Ministry of Research and Technology, Republic of Indonesia and
the Directorate General of Immigration.
Social Family Visit Visa
A single entry Family Visit Visa is valid if presented within 3 (three) months from the date of issuance.
60 (sixty) days is the maximum length of stay that the applicant can apply for, however, this visa could be extended with the support of your sponsor in Indonesia.
Visa Requirements :
- Original passport, valid for more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay.
- Letter of invitation from relative in Indonesia.
- For those who have Indonesian parent/spouse, must submit a copy of the valid Indonesia passport and round trip flight itinerary.
- Copy of confirmed round trip Airline ticket/ Electronic ticket.
- Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport size photograph attached to the second page of the application.
Social/Cultural Visit Visa
A single entry Social/Cultural Visit is valid if presented within 3 (three) months from the date of issuance.
60 (sixty) days is the maximum length of stay that the applicant can apply for, however, this visa could be extended with the support of your sponsor in Indonesia.
If traveling to Banda Aceh, for the purpose of establishment of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency an authorization from BRR - Badan Rehabilitasi dan Rekonstruksi will be needed to request a visa.
For those who are traveling to Banda Aceh to visit with family member who are working on a reconstruction program will require to obtain an authorization from BRR, which the family member must apply for.
Visa Requirements :
- Original passport, valid for more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay.
- Letter of sending company
- Letter of invitation from the Indonesian sponsor
- Copy of confirmed round trip Airline ticket/ Electronic ticket.
- Visa application completed in full with 1 (one) recent passport size photograph attached to the second page of the application.
Diplomatic and Service Visa
Diplomatic Visa is extended to foreign nationals bearing a Diplomatic or Laissez Passer (UN)
Passports for the purpose of conducting diplomatic duties / assignments in Indonesia.
Service Visa is given to foreign nationals bearing an official/service passport on assignment for
government purposes.
Visa Requirements :
- Original Passport with validity of more than 6 (six) months beyond the date of intended length of stay
- Diplomatic note from Foreign Government, Diplomatic Mission or from the United Nations
- Completed visa application form
- Recent color photograph (passport size)
Visa On Arrival
In accordance with the Regulation of Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia
No M.02-IZ.01.10 year 2007 dated May 28, 2007, foreign nationals of 62 countries and 1 region are
eligible to apply for Visa On Arrival (VOA). This visa can be applied directly upon arrival at the designated airports and seaports in Indonesia. The Visa On Arrival is not a work visa nor a visitation visa, therefore it cannot be converted, extended or used to obtain immigration permit. Overstay will incur a penalty, imprisonment or a fine of IDR25,000,000 (Twenty five million rupiah). Visa On Arrival (VOA) is for leisurely visit to Indonesia and could be obtained at the designated Airport/Seaport and Land Border on entry into Indonesia. It is valid for a maximum stay of 30 (thirty) days, and is given to citizens from countries that can apply VOA.
You will need to present at the Port of Entry the following requirements:
- Original passport valid for more than 6 (six) months from the date of arrival in Indonesia .
- Exit airline ticket or on-going ticket.

A 30 (thirty) day visa free visit is currently granted at any immigration check points for nationals of the

This entry permit cannot be extended, transferred converted to any other kind of visa nor can it be used as

- If deemed necessary, a guarantee of funding to cover living expenses while in Indonesia

Applicants bearing passports issued by any of the above countries will require a longer visa processing time
which may well exceed 1 (one) month.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
1. There are regions in Indonesia : Aceh, Maluku, Irian Jaya and Poso where foreign nationals cannot
visit without special permission and approval. Foreign nationals wishing to enter the restricted
regions must obtain special authorization from Indonesian authorities. Please notify the Indonesian
Embassies/Consulates of this intent upon application. This rule also applies to those who work in
these regions. Visitors who enter these regions without permission are subject to arrest and
detention and will be prosecuted according to Indonesian Law.
